I haven’t posted in a long time and there is so much to say, so many wonderful things to tell you about our adventures on the trip, but I have been at a loss for words. I’ve had a kind of writer’s block for weeks now, so please don’t expect any inspiring words from me today. I’ll give you someone else’s words for that.
Yesterday was Branson’s 51st birthday and I spent much of the day with a headache from crying. Today I got more upsetting news, and I wonder when I’m going to run out of tears. Life doesn’t seem to let up sometimes, to give space to breathe and time to heal. It’s strange, though, that since last week, long before I knew about the bad news, I have had a tune stuck in my mind that helped me get through this day. I know God put it there. He knew today would happen. It’s actually a piece of a tune from the show Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, one of the only television shows I’ve watched since Ellis died in January 2015. The show makes me laugh out loud and sometimes inspires me. People ask me all the time how I am able to get through so much loss. Honestly, what choice do I have? As Titus and Lillian sing in the show, “Sometimes the only way to go, is to just go on.”
Here’s the clip and the words are below…
Oh, the sun will rise in the morning
Or so I’m told, but who knows?
You could win a million bucks in the morning and then get rolled
By a mob of stinkin’ hobos
Good news
You can’t lose
When you tell Mr. Blues that you choose to keep going
We’ll never stop
We’ll keep on moving forward
Even if we don’t know what we’re moving toward
They say life’s too short, but they’re wrong
—It’s so long
Sometimes the only way to go
Is to just go on.
Keep a smile in your pocket when the wolf is rat-a-tattin’ at the door
Just lock it tight
Keep a dream in your heart and you’ll never ever want for more
Unless you’re in a knife fight
Chin high, spit in the eye
Of the folks who can’t stop laughing at the stupid things you’ve done
Don’t ever stop
Even though your heart is breaking
Don’t look over your shoulder at the love you left behind
They say life’s too short, but they’re wrong
—It’s so long
Sometimes the only way to go
Is to just go on.
In spite of your not feeling up to being inspiring, thank you for sharing the beautiful words and pictures! That kind of rally is inspiration in itself.
Wishing you brighter days ahead…

Thanks so much, Tanya. Right now I’m being inspired by a pint of Ben & Jerry’s and a glass of wine.

Hang in there girl! They say God only gives you what you can handle, but boy does he know how to push the limit. Just know there are people who care and love you adn will stand beside you though it all. God Bless you and your family.

If what they say is true, I wish he didn’t have so much confidence in me! But I do know He’ll help me through it if I let Him and He sends people to guide and encourage as well. Thanks for your kind words, Darin.
